How NOT to Act as a Real Estate Agent

July 6, 2019

In today’s digitally driven world, it’s important to carry yourself with class, especially when acting in a professional capacity.

With information on the Internet heavily influencing modern consumers’ decisions, something as seemingly insignificant as a single negative review can do major damage to your reputation.

Instead of trying to outline how real estate professionals should act, I figured it’d be more effective (and entertaining) to provide an example of how NOT to act as an agent.

During a recent interview with Tracy Tutor of Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles, I asked Tracy one of the questions I ask all agents who appear on the show:

“What’s your average sale price?”

Her response (see below) was unlike anything I’ve experienced in all my years as a podcast host. Honestly, I was blown away by her unprofessional behavior.

At the end of the day, agents need to remember that everything they do and say has the potential to help or hurt their business and the brand that they represent.

What do you think about the video? Do you have any experiences of your own with bad agent behavior? Let me know in the comments below.

I also interviewed Ryan Serhant of Million Dollar Listing New York and had a much better conversation. Not only is Ryan a gracious, down-to-earth guy, he has tons of valuable insight on sales and the industry.

For that reason, my podcast with Ryan is a great resource for both new and experienced agents. It’s packed with tips on winning listings, working with buyers, and more.

In the next few months, I’ll be dropping new podcasts with other Million Dollar Listing stars, so stay tuned if you’re a fan of the show.
